Future Events

In an effort to provide new and enjoyable outings and events our Committee has already begun thinking about this Summer and Fall.

Museums and Campsites that at one time were available with a 6 month notice are now booked up.  Because of this we are looking to put deposits down for these events as well as gauge interest from the Scouts and parents so our deposits are never wasted.

Currently we are looking to expand our Family Camp program to twice a year. For the Summer of 2012 our Pack will be offering an early June campout at Marango Ridge.  Having a late Spring/early Summer campout will really give the boys a new camping experience and a welcome weather change to last years Fall Family Camp.

In addition to Summer Family Camp, aka Camping with the Cubmaster, we will be offering the boys and 1 guardian the opportunity to spend the night on a submarine.  We will be putting a deposit down for an early August overnight trip to the USS Cobbia.

For the Fall Campout we are currently asking the parents to participate in a Poll to guage interest if driving a little farther to Starved Rock State Park would be objectionable to anyone. It is our intent to secure a campsite for a late September/early October weekend while the weather is still pleasent.

Every other year we organize a trip to Eagle Cave and this Fall we are on track to continue this extremely popular overnight event. Traditionally we look to secure a weekend early in November.  By this time there has been a hard freeze and the moisture in the cave is greatly reduced and makes for an enjoyable weekend.  If you've never been here don't let the November date keep you away.  The cave is quite warm and the exploring is very fun. Plan to get dirty.

By planing early we are able to secure the dates that will provide the most agreeable weather.  Please take the time to answer the Poll and let your Den Leaders know what events you think you'll be attending over the Summer and into the Fall Scout year and mark your calendars for these up coming events.

Spring Popcorn can be a great opportunity for your Scout to help fund his way to participate in all of these events.
