Pack Food Drive

Many families in our area are in need of food. With our economy as it is today, there has been a 50% increase in families at our food pantry in McHenry. Please keep these families in your thoughts and prayers. Please make it a priority to bring what your family can, to each Pack 311 meeting. This food is very much appreciated by the families in need.

To motivate our boys to remember to check the kitchen pantry for items before each Pack meeting or when they are shopping with mom and dad at the grocery store, our Pack has put together an award program in which the Den that brings in the most food at each Pack meeting will be recognized with a ribbon for their Den flag and each boy will be awarded a Culver's token for a free scoop of custard.

Military Care Packages

This is our third year working with Operation Support Our Troops-Illinois, Inc. We will be collecting now until the November Pack meeting on the 30th. Last year we had a great response. Feel free to share this information with your co-workers, family and friends.

Clean-Up Project

All clean up projects are from 10-11:30 am. Whether you come for 10 minutes or for an hour, your time and efforts are appreciated!

Please sign in when you get there.

  • Hilltop Cleanup October 1, 2011
  • Hilltop Cleanup November 5, 2011
  • Hilltop Cleanup March 3, 2012 - Postponed
  • Zion Lutheran Church Cleanup May 5, 2012
Please dress appropriately for the weather. Scouts 10 and older, with an adult helper, will be picking up trash along roadside. Scouts under the age of 10 will be cleaning up school/church grounds. Please bring with you any appropriate trash-picking equipment and gloves. The Pack has 4 grabber poles that can be used on a first-come, first-served basis. The Pack will also provide trash bags. The City of McHenry will provide some road signs, grabber poles and orange vests, but supplies are very limited. If you have any of your own equipment, please bring it with you!

ReUse a Shoe Drive

Please remember to bring in your old gym shoes to the Pack meetings.  Put them in a bag and label the bag with how many pair of shoes you brought in, your name and your Den number.

Athletic shoes can be recycled through Nike. This helps reduce the amount of waste that goes to the landfills. The recycled materials are used to make athletic turf for basketball courts, soccer fields, playgrounds, and many more items we use today.

This is a simple way to get your son involved in recycling. If you have questions about the program please email Renee Mac Laren at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

Nike and National Recycling Coalition thank you for your participation!

Plastic Bottle Caps

Please remember to bring in your old plastic bottle caps to the Pack meetings.

Any bottle cap that is plastic and has threads on it can be recycled through Aveda. Aveda then uses the recycled plastic for the caps on their product bottles. This reduces waste in the landfills. It also saves the animals that can choke on the caps.
